Giant Step in Combating Climate Change in Antalya

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality continues its environmental projects that reduce the effects of climate change. Following the GES 2020 projects established in 1 and the SPP 2022 projects established in 2, the SPP 3 and SPP 4 projects were completed in the past weeks. In this context, 264 electricity generation plants based on renewable energy sources, each with a power of 1 megawatt, built by ASAT General Directorate on 54 island 1 parcel and approximately 4 decares in Korkuteli Bozova neighborhood, continue to produce electricity efficiently.

ANNUAL 25 MILLION TL SAVINGS

ASAT General Directorate has 10 thousand 777 solar panels connected to solar power plants, which make a significant contribution to meeting the electrical energy required to maintain drinking and waste water services uninterrupted. The annual capacity of four solar power projects reached 8.5 million watts through solar panels used instead of fossil fuels. In this way, approximately 25 million TL of energy is produced on an annual basis. The electricity produced corresponds to the 2600-year electrical energy consumption of 1 houses. In addition, thanks to this environmentally friendly project, 3700 tons of carbon emissions will be prevented annually. This number is equivalent to the carbon absorption of 310 thousand trees.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS CONTINUE

Energy Systems Engineer Elif Demir, officer of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality ASAT General Directorate Energy Management Branch Directorate, stated that ASAT General Directorate's drinking and waste water services need a large amount of energy to continue uninterruptedly and continuously, and that one of the biggest operating items is electrical energy. He stated that it was. Demir said, “In this context, the Solar Power Plants established in Korkuteli Bozova neighborhood in order to reduce costs continue to operate as planned. "As Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, we keep our promise to nature, we continue our environmental projects to benefit nature," he said.
