2nd Tourism Sector Meeting Started in Kocaeli

KOCAELI (IGFA) – “2nd” organized in cooperation with Kocaeli Governorship, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, Kocaeli University, TÜRSAB and Kocaeli Hotel Operators. "Tourism Sector Meeting" has started.

150 agencies from home and abroad participated in the program, which is of great importance for the development of tourism in Kocaeli. Organized with the aim of developing Kocaeli's tourism potential and promoting tourism routes, "2. Within the scope of the "Tourism Sector Meeting", tourism routes are introduced with guides in order to increase awareness of our city and develop its tourism potential. The first day of the program, which started with Izmit Historical Kapanca Street, which is of great importance in terms of the city's cultural and historical tourism, will continue with Başiskele Yuvacık Dam, Gölcük Summer Thermal Spring, Gebze Çoban Mustafa Pasha Social Complex, Gebze Malkoçoğlu Tomb, Historical Water Cabinet, Körfez Hereke Castle.

“IT HAS A HISTORY THAT CAN BE LEFT IN THE WORLD HERITAGE”

Eren Güzel, who participated in the program, said that he came to Kocaeli from Erzurum, the other corner of Anatolia. Stating that he visited Kocaeli for the first time, Güzel said, “Kocaeli, which is between Istanbul and Ankara, will now mean something to us. Today, this event was a great activity to get to know this city based on the past of the Republic of Turkey, the Ottoman Empire and many historical monuments. I would like to thank the Metropolitan Municipality, the Directorate of Culture and the Governorship. We came from Erzurum as a team of 6 people. It was really nice to come here. We will obtain much better information at the end of our tour. "We will try to come to these places, bring people and introduce them," he said. Stating that they recognize Kocaeli as an industrial city on the roads they pass through, Güzel said, "Kocaeli actually has a very beautiful history that can be left to the world heritage, apart from the industry."

In his speech after visiting Kapanca Street, İlham Seyyale said, “Izmit is a very important place. We are talking about Nicomedia. This prepared street is very beautiful. Because the few houses of Ottoman architecture living here have been restored very well. It's a beautiful street. Izmit is not a place to pass by. It is a place worth staying and visiting for at least 2-3 days. Kocaeli is a place full of history. Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality and Kocaeli Governorship have identified this very well. In the first place, it is trying to popularize this with agencies and announce it abroad. This is a beautiful thing. "We will give all our support," he said. Referring to the advantage of Kocaeli's proximity to Istanbul, Seyyale said, “Istanbul's existing historical peninsula and strait are now known as world brands. "But there is a history outside of Istanbul and the closest place where there are very important historical ruins of Rome is Kocaeli," he said.

TOURISM AGENCIES WILL COME TOGETHER

The second day of the three-day program will start with a trip to Kartepe and continue with Separate Planet Glass Terrace, Sky Hand, Kartepe Ski Center, which attracts attention with its winter tourism potential, Ormanya, Sekakamp and Maşukiye, which are frequented by nature tourism enthusiasts. On the last day of the program, tourism agencies and operators will come together and open a stand at Kocaeli Congress Center.
