607 tradesmen affected by the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes benefited from the Red Crescent's Tradesman Support Project, which provides cash aid to small-scale tradesmen and enables them to reactivate their workplaces. A total of 25 million TL support was provided in the project, which enabled the earthquake-affected tradesmen to supply equipment and materials that they could use in their businesses, based on the findings made in the cities in the earthquake zone.

Continuing its support to those affected by the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, Turkish Red Crescent launched the Socioeconomic Empowerment Program within the scope of post-disaster recovery efforts. With the Tradesman Support Project implemented with the program, support was given to tradesmen whose workplaces were damaged in cooperation with the Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen in Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Malatya, Adıyaman, Gaziantep and Osmaniye. Within the scope of the support program, cash aid with an upper limit of 50 thousand TL was provided in line with the list of needs given to the Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen where tradesmen in the specified provinces are registered. With the Tradesman Support Project, the payment made to 607 tradesmen who reactivated the workplaces they lost in the earthquake reached 25 million TL in total. The program will continue with the Farmer Support Project.

“Red Crescent is behind me”

Aysel Yılmaz, a haberdasher from Malatya Erkenek, who has established a new order with the support of the Red Crescent, said, "I am sure we will be even better," while Döndü Karabörk, a glassware store owner in Kahramanmaraş, said, "I am behind my wife, my children, my family, and the Red Crescent is behind me." says. The grocer Kadir Demir, who knows no obstacles in Adıyaman, the men's hairdresser Yusuf Mıdık in Hatay, the tailor sisters Naime and Hanife Doğmuş in Adıyaman, and the hairdresser Hatice Gelebek in İslahiye, Gaziantep, are trying to overcome the damages of the earthquake by continuing their profession.

“We will continue our support until our earthquake victims find their homes.”

Emphasizing that the earthquake is the main agenda of the Red Crescent, Turkish Red Crescent President Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz said, “With the Socioeconomic Strengthening Program we carry out within the scope of our disaster recovery efforts in the earthquake region, we carry out activities such as creating job opportunities, supporting small businesses and diversifying income sources to improve the economic and social structure. The amount of payments we have made to earthquake victims to date has reached 25 million TL. With these payments, the needs of small-scale businesses in the region are met. Our tradesmen, who suffered losses due to the earthquake, started their work again. However, our work in the earthquake zone is not over yet. As the Red Crescent, we will continue our support until our earthquake victims find their homes.” said.
