Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the work on the Anatolian Highway, Bolu Mountain Pass, which provides transportation between Istanbul and Ankara, has been completed on the 25-kilometer road in the direction of Ankara, which was closed to traffic on September 23.

Uraloğlu said that after the on-site inspections he will carry out tomorrow at the Bolu Mountain crossing of the Anatolian Highway, the road will be opened to vehicle traffic.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that the works are carried out uninterruptedly in the 23-kilometer section, including the Bolu Tunnel between Kaynaşlı-Abant Junctions, and said, "On the platform providing access to the Ankara direction of the highway, the tunnel entrance in the Ankara direction was extended by 90 meters, with the tunnel portal being a steel construction. "The total length has been increased from 3 thousand 25 meters to 3 thousand 115 meters," he said.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS WERE TAKEN AGAINST EARTHQUAKE

Uraloğlu said, “3 expansion joints with specially designed fuse boxes against earthquakes were replaced in 5 viaducts. By applying liquid membrane and guss asphalt on the joints, the stone was made ready for mastic asphalt. Superstructure repair works were carried out to eliminate rut settlements on the heavy load lane between viaducts. "At the same time, we plan to renew the concrete barriers in the median strip for 3 kilometers and open the road, which we announced will be opened to traffic on November 9, 2023, on Tuesday, November 7, by completing all the work," he said.
