After Manisa Metropolitan Municipality signed the cooperation protocol for the earthquake resistance test of 17 thousand independent buildings in 600 districts in Manisa, where determinations were made through the most comprehensive and detailed program developed in Turkey in cooperation with Manisa Celal Bayar University, building risk analysis was carried out in 103 thousand independent sections in Yunusemre and Şehzadeler districts. . In the study where Manisa Metropolitan Municipality allocated a budget of over 30 million TL, it was stated that a team of 40 people was actively working in the field, while a staff of 10 academicians worked in the reporting stage of the risk situations of the buildings.

Following the earthquakes in Turkey, Manisa Metropolitan Municipality took rapid action under the leadership of Metropolitan Mayor Cengiz Ergün within the scope of precautions that could be taken; With the joint project initiated with Manisa Celal Bayar University, building risk analysis began to be determined through the most comprehensive and detailed program developed in Turkey. Within the scope of the protocol signed with MCBÜ, the Metropolitan and University expert teams, which started to conduct earthquake resistance tests of 17 thousand independent buildings in 600 districts of Manisa free of charge, have completed the earthquake risk analysis in 103 thousand independent sections in Yunusemre and Şehzadeler districts to date. Thus, it was stated that the analysis of 80 percent of the buildings in these two central districts was completed.

10 Academicians and 40 Expert Teams Take Active Part

Within the scope of the study, which was financed by Manisa Metropolitan Municipality and allocated a budget of over 30 million TL, 103 engineers from Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, Manisa Celal Bayar University Civil Engineering Department and Manisa Chamber of Civil Engineers were trained in this field and received certificates. After the training process, expert teams consisting of 40 people quickly started field work and carried out building risk analyzes within the scope of applications from citizens. The teams that conducted risk analysis of the buildings delivered the data they collected from the field to Manisa Celal Bayar University Civil Engineering Department. In the light of the incoming data, a team of 10 people consisting of academicians from the relevant department carried out a reporting study.

“We are taking an x-ray of Manisa”

Stating that within the scope of the studies, all buildings in Manisa will be examined one by one, Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cengiz Ergün stated that after the completion of the examinations in Yunusemre and Şehzadeler, the works will continue within the program in all districts. Mayor Cengiz Ergün said that building risk assessment studies were carried out free of charge throughout the province within the framework of the project; Stating that x-rays of the buildings were taken with the study, he said that important data will be obtained in terms of creating an urban transformation and earthquake risk map regarding the buildings throughout Manisa. President Ergün thanked MCBU academicians and all technical teams for their contributions to the building risk assessment studies.
