Antalya International Science Forum on 'Climate Change, Environmental Crisis and Migration' will be held between 29 November and 1 December in cooperation with Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and Akdeniz University. In the three-day forum, experts from Turkey and abroad will discuss climate change and its consequences.
Antalya International Science Forum (ANISF 2023) on 'Climate Change, Environmental Crisis and Migration', which will be organized by Akdeniz University Social Policy and Migration Studies Application and Research Center (ASPAG) under the main partnership of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, will be held between 29 November and 1 December at Akdeniz University. It will be held at the Faculty of Communication Conference Hall on the campus.
INTRODUCTORY MEETING
The introductory meeting of the Antalya International Science Forum, which will be organized jointly with Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and Turkey Research Center (Germany-Essen), was held. The introductory meeting held at Akdeniz University was attended by Metropolitan Mayor Advisor Lokman Atasoy, Akdeniz University Faculty Members Prof. Dr. Erol Esen, Prof. Dr. Bülent Topkaya and Prof. Dr. Ferhunde Haysever Topçu, members and students attended.
ANTALYA'S FIRST SCIENTIFIC FORUM
Pointing out that it is very valuable for Antalya to host a scientific forum for the first time, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Advisor Lokman Atasoy said, “Climate change, environment and migration issues concern Antalya very closely. The climate is changing, but what is important is that people change and become aware of these issues. Since we took office at the Metropolitan Municipality, we have viewed climate change as our most important issue. We made a difference with our work with the team we created. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we are happy to provide all kinds of support to this organization. After long studies, Antalya is now ready for this forum. Distinguished academicians and representatives of institutions and organizations will attend. Very important issues such as climate justice, climate migrations and climate resilient agriculture will be discussed. "It will be a very productive, useful forum that will bring us a lot," he said.
EXPERTS WILL TALK AND DISCUSS
Akdeniz University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Erol Esen said that it will be a forum where climate change, environmental crises and migration processes, which have occupied the whole world public opinion in recent years, will be discussed and said, “As the Mediterranean basin and Antalya, we can say that we are the region and city that will be most affected by climate change.
How can we adapt to the changing climate with environmental factors? The purpose of this forum will be to draw attention to these issues. Expert speakers will be hosted and 55 papers will be presented at the three-day forum. In addition to researchers, the forum will bring together experts from practice, representatives of civil society and international organizations and decision makers related to the program subject. "Our goal is to present a science forum to Antalya and to continue this forum regularly in the coming years," he said.
CLIMATE CHANGE AND ITS CONSEQUENCES
Antalya International Science Forum will cover different topics such as possible consequences of climate change, climate change and environmental disasters, social structures and systems resistant to climate change, climate resistant cities, biodiversity and its impact on ecosystems.
