In Antalya, Muratpaşa Municipality and (AU) Cave Research Group students cleaned the cliffs, which are sometimes 40 meters above sea level. Teams collected kilos of glass and plastic waste on Antalya's natural wonder coastal band.

Students of the AU Cave Research Group and the employees of the Cleaning Affairs Directorate of the municipality came together at Falez 5 Park for the big cleaning movement that took place within the scope of Turkey Environment Week, which included June 2, World Environment Day.

First, preparations were made for landing on the cliffs. Ropes were laid, pulleys, hooks, safety locks, hard hats were prepared. After the preparations, the cliffs with a height of 40 meters from the sea were descended. During the cleaning, which lasted for about 2 hours, many plastic bottles, kilograms of glass and plastic waste were collected from the cliff coastline.

THE SOLUTION IS SIMPLE: THROW

Halil İbrahim, one of the members of the community, stated that cleaning can be done up to a certain point in the cliffs, “But the garbage thrown down either goes to the sea or stays where it is thrown. This is a bad image for our country where millions of tourists come. It also causes great harm to nature. However, the solution is simple, instead of throwing it down, throw it in a lot of boxes," he said.
