During the operation carried out at the Hamzabeyli Customs Gate by the Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement teams, 19 tons of black tea, which was mixed with sunflower pellets and tried to be brought into Turkey, were seized.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, a truck that came to the Hamzabeyli Customs Gate by the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce was sent for x-ray scanning within the scope of risk analysis. The teams, who encountered too much suspicious density during the scan, took the truck to the search hangar. During the physical controls made here, all the sacks in the trailer were meticulously examined.

The teams found that there is sunflower pellet, which is declared only in the sacks at the back of the trailer and is generally preferred as animal feed in agriculture due to its high energy. It was determined that the top layer of all the other sacks was sprinkled with sunflower pellets, and the rest was filled with black tea.

A total of 19 tons of black tea was seized in the counting and measurements made after the examination of the sacks. The market value of the seized tea was determined to be 6 million liras.

The investigation into the incident continues before the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
