Demirkapı Tunnel and Access Roads, which connect Antalya safely and comfortably to Konya and the interior, were put into service on Wednesday, May 3, with the opening ceremony attended by our Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and the 13th Regional Director of Highways Antalya Ahmet Gülşen.

Along with the Demirkapı Tunnel, which was built on the route of Antalya – Tağıl – Derebucak – Konya Road, which is the north-south axis connecting Antalya to Konya and the interior, with a length of 5 thousand 68 meters and a double tube, the 3 kilometers long stretching from the Konya 34,2rd Region Border to the tunnel. The road section was completed and put into service in the standard of 2×2 lane, bituminous hot mix paved divided road.

The Demirkapı Tunnel, which constitutes the most important crossing point of the north-south axis connecting Antalya to Konya, and the Taurus Mountains, which separate the Mediterranean and Central Anatolia, can be passed in just 4 minutes with the comfort of a tunnel. 30 kilometers of the 276 kilometers long road, which is 222 kilometers shorter than the current Akseki - Seydişehir - Konya axis, has been turned into a divided road.

With the Demirkapı Tunnel and 34,2 kilometers of connection roads; A total of 329 million liras will be saved annually, 85 million liras from time and 414 million liras from fuel oil, and carbon emissions will be reduced by 10 thousand 834 tons.
