The Witcher season 3 episode 1 is still a few weeks away from airing, but it looks like Netflix may have approved the creators to move forward with their plans for The Witcher season 5! Given that The Witcher is one of Netflix's biggest shows, and the streaming service is trying to create a massive franchise made up of multiple series, animated spin-offs, and more, it's not too surprising for Netflix's early renewal.

However, it's not surprising that star Henry Cavill will leave the series at the end of the upcoming third season. The Witcher has been preemptively renewed for season 4, but as Liam Hemsworth is ready to take on the role of Geralt the Witcher, it will be interesting to see how the feedback has been on his revival. If fans hate Hemsworth as Geralt in season 4, will Netflix change their minds in season five?

According to new intel from Redanian Intelligence and an interview with casting director Sophie Holland, it looks like the writers will be starting season 4 soon, followed by season 5 soon, so if ratings drop, it may not be time for Netflix to step back. After Cavill's departure. Also, with the ongoing WGA strike, the entire timelines for this show could change soon depending on how long it takes for things to work out.

The Witcher season 5 has apparently been confirmed by the UK casting director

According to an interview with Deadline's UK casting director Sophie Holland, Netflix has already renewed the series for a fifth season. If so, that's a big deal as Netflix can often be stingy with renewals. With the exception of big series like Stranger Things, not many TV shows get past the third season these days.

In the interview, Holland confirmed that filming for The Witcher season 4 starring Liam Hemsworth is about to begin and they will start season 5 shortly. Redanian Intelligence previously reported that Netflix plans to shoot seasons 4 and 5 in a row, so Holland seems to have confirmed this.

"We're about to start filming season four with Liam Hemsworth and there's going to be a short hiatus, then we're going straight into season five," he says in a Deadline interview.

However, it looks like season 5 may be in the early stages of writing, so it's unclear whether they will progress as planned. On the other hand, since The Witcher was filmed overseas, it may be possible for them to circumvent the strike by hiring writers on location.

The Witcher season 3 episode 1 will premiere on June 29, followed by episode 2 on July 27.
