Squid Game season 2 is coming
There is no doubt that Squid Game season 2 will be on Netflix. The series was officially renewed in June 2022, which is no surprise given how successful the first season was.
Ever since the first season premiered and garnered mainstream attention, everyone has been asking creator Hwang Dong-hyuk for season 2.
Hwang Dong-hyuk shared his thoughts on season 2 with The Hollywood Reporter:

So if I create season two, I'd like to explore this story - what's going on between these two brothers? And of course, we can continue the story of Gi-hun's return and discover more about how he will progress in his reckoning with the people who designed the games. So, I don't know yet, but I'm just going to say there are many possibilities for the second season storyline.
We obviously don't have the exact details about the plot of season 2, but in a recent interview with Ilgan Sports, star Lee Jung-jae, who plays Seong Gi-hun, revealed that Front Man is returning and could play a more central role in the drama. The second season will have a plot based on revenge.
Squid Game season 2 is filming in the summer of 2023
In an interview with Ilgan Sports, Jung-jae revealed that filming for Squid Game season 2 will finally begin this summer! He suggested that the filming of the second season may take longer than the first season, as it will be much wider in scope.
Here's what Jung-jae shared about Squid Game season 2:
“Anyway, 'Squid Game 2' will begin filming in the summer and will probably take about 10 months. We've also been working on season 1 for about 10 months, but this has been with delays caused by COVID-19. However, considering that season 2 will be larger in scale, it will probably take longer to complete.”
If production starts in the summer of 2023, it probably won't end until at least spring 2024.
Squid Game season 2 release updates
It will be a long time before we see Squid Game season 2 on our screens. Fans have been waiting for over a year since the debut of the first season in September 2021, but expect at least a year or more to wait before the sophomore season comes out.
We probably won't see it on Netflix until the end of 2, or even 2023, as season 10 won't begin filming until the summer of 2024 and could potentially take 2025 months or more to finish. The first season lasted 19 months due to the COVID-10 delays, so you would think that the second season will be shorter, but he also said that the 2nd season could take longer due to its size.
10 months is quite a long production for a Netflix series. Then we have to assume that there will be at least another six months for post production and promotion. You know that Netflix will also do its best to promote Squid Game season 2.
If production continues through 2024, there's no way we'll see Squid Game season 2 until mid-2024. For now, we should expect to see Squid Game season 2 in late 2024. We could see Netflix releasing Squid Game season 2 in October, November or December, and it would be a huge hit for the streaming network.
