“Cancer Awareness Seminar” organized by IMM Health Department within the scope of 1-7 April National Cancer Week was held at Başakşehir Individuals with Special Needs Training and Rehabilitation Center. The "Cancer Awareness Seminar", organized with the participation of individuals with special needs and their families, was attended by IMM Health Department Head of Health and Hygiene Branch Specialist Doctor Mustafa Hakan Yılmaztürk, Disabled Branch Manager Mesut Halıcıoğlu and IMM Esenyurt Integrated Medicine Center Chief Physician Specialist Süleyman Fikret Turan.

Making the opening speech of the seminar, IMM Health and Hygiene Branch Manager Specialist Doctor Mustafa Hakan Yılmaztürk; “Cancer is one of the most important diseases of our time and is also a public health problem due to its high incidence and high mortality rate,” he said. Esenyurt Integrated Medicine Center Chief Physician S. Fikret Turan, who made the second speech of the seminar, warned that “5 out of every 2 people will develop cancer throughout their life”.

Referring to the most common types of cancer in men and women in his speech, Specialist Doctor S. Fikret Turan said: “While the incidence of cancer originating from the Trachea, Bronchus and Lungs in men is 57,7 percent; The most common cancer in women is breast cancer with 45,6 percent. Concluding his speech with information on the prevention and early treatment of breast cancer, Fikret Turan pointed out that the incidence of Lung Cancer increased with the increase in smoking in women.
