The outputs of the workshop held in order for Gaziantep and the region to regain their old dynamics in the tourism sector after the great disaster were discussed at the Evaluation Meeting on Sectoral Problems in Tourism organized by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality.

Industry representatives, especially Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nadir Alparslan and Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, attended the meeting held at the Panorama 25 December Museum Özdemir Bey Conference Hall.

In his statement to the journalists after the meeting, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nadir Alparslan stated that they came together with the representatives of the sector in this great disaster in Gaziantep and said:

“We received the demands of our citizens and sector representatives. We will evaluate them together. After the disaster we experienced, we quickly made on-the-spot determinations about the damage to our cultural assets in our region. Nearly 1000 of our experts worked in the field. After the examinations, necessary projects are prepared and very comprehensive studies are carried out for the revival of our cultural heritage. Of course, Gaziantep Castle was seriously damaged in the earthquake. We carried out the studies we mentioned immediately after this damage. Gaziantep Directorate of Surveying and Monuments completed the pre-tender preparations within the framework of the instructions of our ministry. As the ministry, we provided the necessary support to Gaziantep with the signature of Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin. We will start the process of reviving Gaziantep Castle by holding a tender between 15 and 20 May.”
