At the meeting, where the effects of the changing balances after the pandemic on cities and public transportation were evaluated, views were exchanged on the activities of ESHOT, which made the first electric bus and solar power plant investments in Turkey, and on strategies for the development of public transportation service. It was noted that 25 experts from around the world will visit ESHOT between 9-11 May, and besides technical trips, mutual information exchange will be held, especially on the use of electric buses and their technologies.
Soyer: Our investments continue
Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, Mayor Soyer emphasized that public transportation investments are a priority in İzmir. Stating that they aim to increase rail systems, electric buses, bicycle use and sea transportation, President Soyer said that investments and studies continue in this direction.
Mezghani, drawing attention to the importance of the long-standing cooperation between Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and UITP, thanked Mayor Soyer for his leadership in the development of public transportation services. Mezghani invited President Soyer to the opening ceremony of the Global Public Transport Summit, which will be held in Barcelona between 4-7 June this year with the theme of “Bright Light of the City”.
