The dates of the Izmir International Film and Music Festival, organized by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality for two years, have been announced. Within the scope of the festival, which will be held between 16 - 23 June 2023, this year, in addition to the national competition, an international competition will also be held.
Izmir International Film and Music Festival will be held this year between 16 – 23 June 2023. This competition, which focuses on the relations between music and cinema, will give İzmir a unique position among world festivals.” Feature-length productions with original music from 2022 and 2023 will participate in the national competition. In the international competition, feature-length productions and musicals about the world of music and dance will compete.
Directed by Vecdi Sayar, the festival, where screenings will be held in movie theaters and open-air cinemas, is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cinema, cooperation with İZFAŞ, partnership with the Intercultural Art Association, the consulates of various countries, the contributions of cultural centers and the sponsorship of private institutions. The screenings of the competitive parts of the festival will be in the halls of İstinye Park Terrace, the new art center of İzmir.
At the thematic festival, whose poster was designed by Nazlı Ongan and award figurine Sema Okan Topaç, awards are given in the categories of Best Film, Special Jury Award, Best Actor, Best Original Music, Best Original Song and Best Sound Design. In addition to the 'Crystal Flamingo' awards, financial awards will be given to the winners in these branches. Series music will also compete
In addition to the two competitions, the festival will feature an evaluation highlighting the music of television series, as in previous years. The original generic music and original songs of the TV series broadcast on open channels and the original music and songs of the TV series broadcast on digital platforms will be evaluated in separate categories. The 10 works selected in the 'Music Short Film Project Competition' held last year and half of the award amount was given to the project owners for the realization of the films, whose shooting and post-production processes were completed after that date, will be sent to the same address until 20 April, and the Turkish premiere of the films will be held within the scope of the festival. .
