36 kilograms of skunk drugs were seized in the operation carried out at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport by the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, as a result of the controls and studies carried out at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport by Customs Enforcement teams, a passenger was considered suspicious and followed up. While the person, who was determined to have come from Thessaloniki, was about to enter the country from international lines, the teams were surrounded by the personnel and the belongings of the person were x-rayed. When it was seen that there was a suspicious density in the suitcases, control was started with a narcotic detector dog. In the meantime, the suspicious behavior and behavior of the passenger did not escape the attention of the teams, and as a result of the control, the suspicion of the teams was not wasted.

After it was seen that the narcotic detector dog reacted to the luggage of the passenger, a detailed search was carried out and it was determined that there were drugs in two suitcases. In the analysis and measurements, it was determined that the substance in question was a skunk type drug. The seized 36 kilograms of drugs were confiscated by the Customs Enforcement teams.

Skunk is known as a genetically modified cannabis derivative, named after the English word meaning skunk, due to its intense scent.

As part of the investigation initiated by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident, the suspect was arrested and sent to prison.
