Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Rami Library, which was restored and converted from the Rami Barracks, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made the assessment that "Our civilization has been mixed with books, notebooks, pen, ink, reading, understanding, asking, telling, and has found its consistency with knowledge, wisdom, wisdom and contemplation."

Wishing God's mercy to the deceased artist Burhan Çaçan, President Erdoğan said, “Burhan Çaçan is an artist who makes our heartstrings tremble, with his strong voice, unique interpretation, and always preserved dignified stance, not only in the hearts of our people but also in making unique contributions to Turkish folk music. Our deceased artist was a truly exceptional person, whom we listened fondly since our early youth, and whose personality we always appreciated. Burhan Çaçan, who has produced valuable albums throughout his 45-year artistic life, has left behind a void that is difficult to fill with his death. May my Lord surround our deceased artist with his mercy and compassion. I wish patience to his relatives and all his loved ones, especially his family.” used the phrases.

Pointing out that the Rami Barracks, which has been converted into a library, has a very important place in the country's history of the last 2,5 centuries, President Erdoğan said that he also sold cheese, sausage and bacon when this place turned into a food market.

Stating that it is not possible to put the past aside here, President Erdoğan stated that he also played football when this place was a ball field. The barracks, which were used for the same purpose for a long time in the Republican period, were later evaluated in different ways, including the Food Wholesalers Site, as I have just stated.” he spoke

“Istanbul's largest library”

Pointing out that the work they carried out to organize this monumental work, which has suffered serious damage over time, as Istanbul's largest library, has finally come to an end, President Erdoğan continued his words as follows:

“We planned Rami not only as a library but also as a cultural center where many activities can be done. Our library here will serve book lovers, especially our youth, 24 hours a day, every day of the week. We have reached the current structure in an area of approximately 36 thousand square meters with other additions, the usage area of which exceeds 51 thousand square meters, the landscape area reaches 110 thousand square meters. I am pleased that our library started its service with over 2 million books and a capacity of 4 people in the first place. Of course, the number of our books will increase over time. The Atatürk Specialized Library within the library will also meet an important need in its field with its corpus of 200 thousand volumes.”

Expressing that the Manuscripts Library under Rami will also add a different depth to this place, President Erdoğan noted that today's indispensable digital resources will also meet their enthusiasts here.

Emphasizing that they see protecting the historical and cultural heritage of the country, especially Istanbul, as a necessity of their responsibilities to their ancestors, President Erdoğan stated that they do not only stop there, but also implement projects that will enable modern arts to become widespread in the country.

Recalling that with this understanding, they put the congress and culture center, exhibition center and library with the best infrastructure in the country at the service of the nation within the Presidential Complex in Ankara, again at the Presidency's Çankaya Mansion, Tarabya Campus, Dolmabahçe, Yıldız Palace. He stated that they are protecting history by restoring the historical monuments in Istanbul, making the Vahdettin Mansion its current state after it was burned down, and rebuilding it.

Stating that by connecting the Presidency of National Palaces to the Presidency, they ensured the revival of many ancestral heirloom works, and that despite all the negative campaigns, they brought the Atatürk Cultural Center in Taksim back to the cultural and artistic life of Istanbul in a much more beautiful way. has:

“On the other hand, we are approaching step by step towards our goal of welcoming the 100th anniversary of our Republic with 100 new libraries. On the one hand, our Ministry of Culture and Tourism, on the other hand, our Ministry of Environment and Urbanization with the library activities within the Nation's Gardens, and on the other hand, our municipalities, are working hard to bring our country and our youth together with books. Of course, we closely follow the efforts of our universities and non-governmental organizations in this regard. Everywhere I go, I witness the acceptance of our libraries, which we have transformed and built with a new understanding, in the eyes of our youth. The ancients say 'serefü'l mekin bil place'. In other words, the honor, value and meaning of a place are with those who are there. I believe that libraries are the places where this meaning is best embodied. Here is such a work.”

Free refreshments will be served at the Rami Library

Underlining that the more the familiarity of all citizens with the library with the youth is strengthened, the future will be safer, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, “We just got together with our young people who are members of an Anatolian High School here. And they said, 'President, we are coming here from our school in 5 minutes'. Five min. 'Other?' I said, 'Tell them too.' Will you drink your soup here now? You will drink. Will you drink your tea? You will drink. Will you drink your coffee? You will drink. Cake, you will eat it too, no money. Of course they are very happy. Starting tomorrow morning, this practice also starts.” he said.

Expressing that, in retrospect, the richer, more widespread and active the libraries are, the more civilization produces, the stronger the state and the prosperous the nation, President Erdoğan said: “Our civilization is based on books, notebooks, pen, ink, reading and understanding. It has been kneaded by asking and telling, and has found its consistency with knowledge and wisdom, wisdom and contemplation. Our ancestors, who value a library full of books above the most precious treasures, compared every library to a mansion from heaven. Comparing the scholars with the trees of paradise, under whose shade they can breathe, the ancestors saw their works as the fruits of these trees. Alhamdulillah, what kind of ancestors do we have. Hopefully we will be worthy of them too.” made its assessment.

President Erdoğan continued his speech by stating that the nation, which carries out science, wisdom, culture and art activities with the love of worship, just like any good work, has shed light on the world for centuries thanks to this characteristic and still produces highly prized works:

“As our fertile civilization climate, which our libraries are the symbol of, has left its place to intellectual and spiritual drought, this picture has been replaced by regression, complacency and misery. In some periods, this drought climate was especially established, and it was precipitated like a dark cloud on our heads. For years, we have experienced the sterility caused by the mentality that tries to keep education and intellectual activities both as a one-way formatting tool and as a privilege reserved for certain segments in our country. They either did not take our children to schools at all, or they were trying to shape them according to their own ideological obsessions with fascist pressures. We commemorate the efforts of the sons of the nation, who are the main element of this country, initiated by the late Menderes and continued by the late Özal, to pave the way in every field from academia to bureaucracy, from the media to the business world. Since the day we came to the government, we have worked and strived with this understanding to encompass every corner of our country and our entire nation, without any discrimination on the basis of justice, rights, equity and equality of opportunity.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that they are working day and night for a Turkey that does not follow but leads, does not consume what is offered to it in culture like other fields, but produces, and said, “I hope that in the coming period, with our vision of the Century of Turkey, we will focus on the topics that will make our country a global brand, especially education and culture. In all, we will make our nation achieve their dreams.” said.

Stating that they receive education as their first priority, President Erdoğan said that they have rolled up their sleeves to establish an education infrastructure and system that will both correct the mistakes of the past, eliminate their grievances and meet the needs of today.

Pointing out that they have carried out radical reforms at all levels, from pre-school to university and from there to the top of the academic ladder, President Erdoğan underlined that they have restructured the entire system, including strengthening vocational education.

Recalling that they expanded the universities to 81 provinces, President Erdoğan said:

“We supported our children and youth in every field. Likewise, we fortified our culture and art infrastructure. We stand by everyone who adds value to our country by making production based on their thoughts, heart, skills and labor. We especially encouraged our people of culture and arts, who put their stamp on the work they do, the production they perform, and the service they provide. While doing these, we were chasing to raise our civilization sun, which has illuminated our way for centuries, to the highest level again. The developments we made in all other aspects of our democracy and development breakthroughs also had an aspect that supported this struggle.”

Expressing that they have achieved great success in meeting the century-old infrastructure deficiencies, democracy and security needs of the country in the last 20 years, and that no one can deny this, President Erdoğan said, “In this context, we see the place we have come in in education, culture and art as very important. But we are also aware that we have not yet reached the level we desire in these areas. Ours is a regret that only those with big dreams and goals can experience. Otherwise, we have no doubt that we have produced works and services worth centuries.” made its assessment.

“Our Rami Library will be the result of investment in the future”

President Erdoğan said: “Staying in place while the world changes is a sign of regression. We work day and night for a Turkey that produces, not consumes, what is offered to it in culture, just like other fields that lead, not follow. Hopefully, with our vision of the Century of Turkey in the coming period, we will fulfill our nation's dreams in all of the topics that will make our country a global brand, especially in education and culture.” he said.

Expressing that they see the Rami Library as a new public and a new phase in this great march, President Erdoğan said:

“While visiting our Rami Library, I saw our bookbinders. We entered the units where book restorations were made, almost like an operating room. To see how sensitively our friends there work and how they transport the destroyed leaves of those books one by one, as if they were transplanting an organ. It is impossible not to say that we owe them our gratitude. And together with these works, I hope our Rami Library will be the work of an investment in a very, very different future. I wish good luck to our country and Istanbul. We can transfer all the books we want here. And by giving a support to the budget of our Ministry of Culture and Tourism, we will hopefully buy all kinds of books here from home and abroad. We will import books from all over the world. And we will have made this international feature of our Rami Library much stronger.”

President Erdoğan concluded his speech by thanking everyone who will read, research, produce and benefit from the activities in this library.

Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop, Vice President Fuat Oktay, Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Celal Adan, Cabinet members, AK Party Deputy Chairman Numan Kurtulmuş, Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, Presidency Sözcüsü İbrahim Kalın, BBP Chairman Mustafa Destici and Former Parliament Speaker İsmail Kahraman, members of the Presidency Culture and Art Policy Committee and some writers.

After the speeches, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy presented a miniature of the Rami Library to President Erdoğan in memory of the day.

President Erdoğan inaugurated the library by cutting a ribbon with the members of the protocol.

During the ribbon cutting, President Erdoğan said, “We are opening our Rami Library today and we are now adding a different richness to our Istanbul with our Rami Library. May this new potential of our Istanbul, this power it gains at the cultural point, be beneficial to all our youth. O Allah, Bismillah." used the phrases.

Before the program, President Erdoğan visited the Rami Library with his wife Emine Erdoğan. sohbet He.
