İzmir Metropolitan Municipality İZSU General Directorate has started regulation and renovation works in Değirmendere and Çamönü streams in Menderes, which create risks in heavy rains within the scope of flood prevention works.
Değirmendere and Çamönü creeks in Menderes, which experienced flood problems during the heavy rains throughout the city last month, are taken under control. İZSU teams, who examined the creeks and the streets where the negative results of the flood were experienced, started working in line with the findings obtained.
İZSU teams within the scope of the studies in the region; In Değirmendere Neighborhood, in Kurudere and Başpınar creeks, the worn-out aprons that are not suitable for the stream section have been renewed. With the arrangements made, the flow of streams has been made safer and the risk of flooding has been prevented.
No floods
İZSU General Directorate completed the 53 km stream rehabilitation project in the city only last year in order to prevent floods. In addition, a total of 2 thousand 344 kilometers of creek cleaning work was carried out.
In 2022, a total of 275 thousand tons of waste material was removed from the stream cleanings.
