Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu traveled on the Kağıthane-Istanbul Airport metro, which was put into service last week, and said that they will open the Kagithane-Gayrettepe distance, which is the continuation of this line, in the coming months.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu first examined the work at the Gayrettepe metro station, then transferred to the Kağıthane metro with the Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey metro line. Then, traveling on the Kağıthane-Istanbul Airport metro that opened on January 22, Karaismailoğlu experienced the metro line with the passengers.

Making a statement after the trip, Karaismailoğlu stated that he examined the works at the Gayrettepe metro station on site. Noting that Gayrettepe is the continuation of Kağıthane station, Karaismailoğlu stated that the distance between Kağıthane and Gayrettepe is 3,5 kilometers. Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, said, "We will open this place to service in the coming months, without spending too much time, and increase the 34 kilometers to 37,5 kilometers," and continued his speech as follows:

“It has been a week since we opened our Kağıthane-Istanbul Airport metro. We served the world's best and busiest airport with Turkey's fastest metro and the world's highest quality metro. It has become a system that all our citizens proudly prefer. We are talking about a gigantic urban metro that will reach 69 kilometers in total when we complete the connections. When we reach the end of the year, this will be a huge urban metro line, which we will extend from Gayrettepe via Istanbul Airport to Arnavutköy, Başakşehir, Küçükçekmece and Marmaray, a total of 69 kilometers. In fact, if you add the 80 kilometers long Marmaray from Küçükçekmece Marmara Station, we are talking about a line that will be a complete urban public transportation backbone of Istanbul with a length of approximately 150 kilometers. We continue by adding these as pieces of the puzzle.”

WE FINISHED A PROJECT THAT CAN BE AN EXAMPLE TO THE WHOLE WORLD

Providing information about the lines under construction, Karaismailoğlu said that when the 69-kilometer ring is completed, a citizen in Arnavutköy in Başakşehir will have the opportunity to reach Beşiktaş, Mecidiyeköy, Şişli Gayrettepe in the comfort of the metro. Karaismailoğlu, emphasizing that this is a very valuable job for Istanbul, which is developing and growing, said, “It is these big infrastructure investments that will save Istanbul. As the Ministry, we will continue to weave all four sides of Istanbul with such high quality and comfortable transportation networks. Istanbul Airport is the apple of the eye of the world and the transit center of the world. It served 65 million passengers last year, hopefully we will exceed 70 million this year at Istanbul Airport. Likewise, Sabiha Gökçen Airport is growing in parallel with this. It also had 30 million passengers, and it will exceed 30 million next year. In other words, mobility in every aspect is increasing and growing in Istanbul. As the Ministry in Istanbul, we have made huge investments as the AK Party governments. These investments paved the way for Istanbul. Istanbul is truly one of the few cities in the world, and Istanbul, the apple of its eye, continues to serve the whole world in this way. These investments pave the way for Istanbul, in fact, pave the way for Turkey, and they will continue to increase. We will increase this comfort even more by establishing a quality business and providing a quality service here. That's why our citizens are proudly traveling on the Kağıthane-Istanbul Airport metro line, a 34-kilometer metro line where the world's best quality works are carried out. We have completed a project that can set an example for the whole world.”

WE WILL MEET ISTANBUL AIRPORT ON FAST TRAINS IN THE COMING YEARS

Noting that they have made and will continue to make significant investments in rail systems throughout Turkey, Karaismailoğlu said, “We are currently talking about an investment of 27 billion dollars in rail systems throughout Turkey. There is a feverish work in our 4 km high-speed train network between cities, as in the inner city subways. We will complete our fruits in the coming days. We will finish our lines one by one. Again, we brought Istanbul Airport together with the metro, I hope we will bring it together on high-speed trains in the coming years. In other words, Istanbul is becoming a full-fledged transportation city,” he said.

SOME OF THEM TALK TOO MUCH BUT THEY DO NOTHING

Pointing out that the Ministry is working devotedly in this field, Karaismailoğlu stated that they brought these investments together with Istanbulites, adding, “Some of them talk a lot, but they are useless. We build roads, bridges, tunnels, subways, high-speed trains, provide jobs to our citizens, feed them, and pave the way for Turkey with these investments. That's why we continue to work with 5 thousand colleagues at 700 thousand construction sites all over Turkey.”

Referring to the projects to be opened in the coming days, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu stated that there is a great liveliness in Turkey and that very good works are being done in the country. Karaismailoğlu said, “One of our biggest gains is this knowledge, skill and experience that we have gained, and this great knowledge skill of Turkey in the field of engineering, contracting, construction works has now started to be exported to the world. It is one of our biggest gains. This will continue to increase. Much better things await us in the coming days," he said.
