Bahçeli Reacted, Ünal Demands His 'Pardon'
AKP Group Deputy Chairman Mahir Ünal made a statement saying, “As of today, I have requested my pardon from my position as Group Deputy Chairman”.
In the message he shared on Twitter, Ünal said, “Our Chairman and President Mr. I am grateful to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for the trust he has placed in me and the responsibilities he has given me so far. I respectfully present it to the public's knowledge," he said.

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli said, “Those who claim that the Republic harms Turkish culture, Turkish language and our thinking sets are in the grip of an unfortunate, indescribable and baseless mistake. It is not possible to understand and explain the Republic with the judgment of prejudices and ideological rigidities. To say that we cannot form thoughts with our current Turkish is to distort the facts, it is against objective developments, it is defaming our language, it is ultimately a lack of self-confidence.
On the other hand, IYI Party Chairman Meral Akşener called out to Ünal, "Oh, shame on you," and said, "Can't you think in Turkish? It is your capacity problem”.
Who is Mahir Unal?
Mahir Unal, (born July 1, 1966) Turkish politician, He graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Theology. He completed his master's degree at Istanbul University, Social Sciences Institute, in the department of social structure and social change. She worked as a consultant at ITO.
He served as a consultant in the election campaign strategy team of the Justice and Development Party in the 2004 and 2009 local elections and the 2007 general elections. He was a board member of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club.
He took part in strategy teams in election campaigns in many countries such as Iraq, Malaysia, Cyprus and Lebanon. He also advised some politicians on effective communication. He provided consultancy services on urban studies, local governments and political communication.
He served as the head of the behavioral sciences department at a private university. He taught organizational behavior courses in an MBA at a foundation university. He continues his doctorate in Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Sociology.
He was elected as Kahramanmaraş deputy in 2011 and 2015 general elections. He resigned on 2011 October 31 from his position as the Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party, to which he was appointed in 2023.
