Atatürk and his brothers in arms made the comfort of the road of salvation he used

The 30-kilometer historical Independence Road, used by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades to go from Samsun to Havza, was renewed with the work carried out by the Metropolitan Municipality.

The asphalt move that Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir started all over the city from the city center to the countryside continues. Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which has renewed the streets where the population density is high in the districts, as well as the neighborhood and group roads, produces permanent solutions to the problems. The construction of Kurtuluş Road in Ilkadım was completed by the teams of the Road Construction, Maintenance and Repair Department, which announced mobilization on neighborhood and group roads in order to raise the transportation standard in rural areas. The 30-kilometer-long road is connected to Çakallı by making 5 kilometers of double-layered steel-wire concrete and 25 kilometers of A-type surface coating. The width of the road, which is the common transportation route used by 20 neighborhoods, has been increased from 7 meters to 10 meters.

WE OVERCOME OBSTACLES WITH THE METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY

Stating that their longing for the road, which they have been waiting for for years, has been resolved thanks to Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, physically disabled Ertan Abanoz said, “I would like to thank the Metropolitan Municipality and our President Mustafa Demir. We had a lot of trouble on this road. Our road used to be like a molehill. I had a hard time going outside because I was physically disabled. When I left, I couldn't go where I wanted. Now our road has become like the E5 Highway. I can walk comfortably even with my crutches. Our dream has come true,” he said.

Dursun Bilal, one of the residents of Çelikalan Mahallesi who uses the road, stated that the services provided are very important for them and said, “We are very happy with the work done in Samsun. We are aware that what is done every day adds value to this city. However, we kept thinking about when it would come to our neighborhood. The service soon came. In the past, our vehicles were constantly breaking down on this road. We have suffered a lot from dust and soil. Our vehicles and we survived. May God be pleased with our president and everyone who contributed," he said.

Bilmece District Headman Erdal Özgür said, “First of all, we would like to thank our Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Demir for his investments. The road was beautiful. It relieved 20 villages and all the roads connected to Çakallı. We've been waiting for years. Thankfully it was worth the wait. The ground was very solid. We are so relieved. We're going to the city center in 20 minutes. We used to only go for an hour. There would be no undercarriage in the car. Now we breathe a sigh of relief. We laughed. I would like to thank everyone who contributed," he said.
