The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change continues to work on the registration and maintenance of approximately 10 thousand monumental trees that have witnessed history. From the official social media account of the Ministry, “10 thousand monumental trees are under protection by our Ministry. We register, maintain and protect our timeless trees. The legendary Inkaya Sycamore of our Green Bursa is one of them.” While sharing the expressions with the expressions of the 2014-year-old İnkaya Çınari, who was taken under protection in Bursa in 620, a video was also published.

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change announced that it continues to work for the protection of monumental trees, which witness historical events and are considered a cultural heritage between the past and the future, and transfer them to future generations.

The Ministry published a video on its official social media account, in which the story of 2014-year-old İnkaya Çınari, who was taken under protection in Bursa in 620, is told, and in the video message, “10 thousand monumental trees are under protection by our Ministry. We register, maintain and protect our timeless trees. The legendary Inkaya Sycamore of our Green Bursa is one of them.” expressions were used.

In the statement made by the Ministry, it was emphasized that approximately 10 thousand monumental trees that defy time were rehabilitated, and it was stated that studies are continuing to transfer these historical trees to future generations.

In the statement, it was stated that the height of the İnkaya Plane Tree in Bursa exceeded 37 meters and its width reached 3 meters, and it was stated that the plane tree is Turkey's physically largest monumental tree.

Historian Aykan Özyürek, who defied the years and made statements about the Inkaya Sycamore, also known as the Great Sycamore, said, “Inkaya Sycamore, Great Sycamore; Like a whirling dervish, he opens his arms and says 'Welcome' to you. Inkaya Sycamore, known as the Great Sycamore, is the physically largest tree in Turkey. Since it is 620 years old, it has attained the status of a monumental tree. Because the plane tree is a tree with strong roots, it symbolizes both Bursa and the Ottoman Empire. The foundation of the Ottoman Empire is described with a dream. Osman Gazi said that a moon coming out of Sheikh Edebali's chest entered his own chest and turned into a plane tree, this plane tree spread over 3 continents, its branches stretched to the Bosphorus and fell as a leaf and turned into a ring in the Bosphorus, the full ring. He tells that he woke up from a dream when he was going to buy it. When Osman Gazi transfers this dream to Sheikh Edebali, who was his teacher and spiritual leader at that time, he gives the good news of a state that will spread over three continents and that he will marry one of his own generation there. Here, plane trees represent both the Ottoman Empire and Bursa.” used the phrases.

“Detection, registration and maintenance processes of monumental trees are carried out meticulously”

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change General Directorate of Conservation of Natural Assets, which continues to work on the identification, registered, maintenance and subsequent protection of monumental trees, gave the following information:

“The maintenance of these historical trees also consists of certain stages. First, mistletoe, harmful fungi, ivy, dangerous branches and foreign objects on the branches forming the trunk and crown are cleaned. Pine tar is applied by spraying the trees. The openings of the holes in the tree are closed with stainless wire mesh and protective paste. Then, hard floors and coatings such as hardwood, asphalt, concrete, plaque, stone and rubble around the roots of the trees are removed. Within the scope of supporting the trees against the risks of falling and breaking and protecting the health of the trees, soil reinforcement, soil processing and fertilizer supplements are made around the root. In addition, promotional signs are made for each of the monumental trees in order to raise awareness in the society.”
