World Children's Book Week Begins

Celebrated in November every year to instill a love of books in children, the "World Children's Book Week" will host colorful events this year as well.

The week, which will start under the leadership of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, will host many events from science workshops to puppet shows, from panels to literacy meetings.

The opening of the World Children's Books Week, which will be started from Ankara on November 7 by Ali Odabaş, the General Manager of Libraries and Publications of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Murat Köse, the Mayor of Mamak, will be held at the Mamak Municipality Music Teacher's School.

Meddah Kenan Olpak's Anatolian Tales narration will also take place within the scope of the opening program of the week, organized with the contributions of Mamak Municipality and Eurasia Libraries Association. In addition, an exhibition including workshops will be held in Mamak Municipality baby and children's libraries.

On the same day, at the panel titled “Children's Libraries: Big Worlds Through Small Readers' Window”, academic panelists will exchange ideas. After the panel, paper airplane and puppet making, a chess workshop and an interview with the writer Nehir Yarar will be held for small participants. There will be different surprises for the children participating in the activities throughout the day.

Science workshop to be established by Feza Gürsey Science Center in the National Library on the second day of World Children's Books Week, puppet show by Abdullah Beyaztaş, ceramic workshop of Behiye Bekiroğlu, storytelling with writers Tülin Kozikoğlu and illustrator Huban Korman, illustration works from different age groups. It will bring the children together.

The activities of the third day will continue with the marbling workshop at the Adnan Ötüken Provincial Public Library, an interview with the author Üzeyir Gündüz, and a live Turkish music concert.

Hot glass workshop and piano recital will be among the activities that will make the participants have a pleasant time on November 10th.

Fun Games Await The Children

World Children's Book Week will attract children to the magical world of books with its fun games.

The exhibition and foyer area of ​​the National Library will host children on November 11 with hopscotch, tug-of-war, pine cone racing, and handkerchief snatch games. The events will be held with the support of the Street Games Federation.

After the puppet screening, drama and art workshops accompanied by writer Mehtap İnan and Painter Elçin Şahal Aksoy will meet with primary school students.

In Adnan Ötüken Provincial Public Library, Japanese books sent by Moriyama City Library of Shiga province for pre-school and primary school students will be presented to the library officials on November 12, as part of the mutual exchange agreement with Japan.

In addition to the marbling, felt, watercolor, music and paper airplane workshops that will be held for young readers, origami studies will be conducted by telling Turkish and Japanese children fairy tales by traditionally dressed narrators with the contribution of the Turkish-Japanese Foundation.
