Cooperation on Rail System Projects Between Metro Istanbul and Nigeria

A cooperation agreement on rail system projects was signed between Metro Istanbul, one of the IMM subsidiaries, and Nigeria. With the agreement, which is seen as an important step for the development of the country, technical consultancy and consultancy services will be provided in the fields of operation and maintenance.

Metro Istanbul signed a cooperation agreement as a result of negotiations with the representatives of Lagos State, Nigeria. Under the contract, Metro Istanbul will provide technical consultancy and consultancy services to the city of Lagos in the fields of operation and maintenance of rail system projects.

In his statement on the subject, İBB President Advisor Ertan Yıldız said, “Our companies are not only working for İBB, but also for other municipalities in our country, various companies and even for cities of other countries by crossing the country border. As Metro Istanbul, we are developing rail system projects in Turkey and even all over the world. Recently, we signed a contract to provide technical consultancy services to the city of Lagos, Nigeria in the fields of operation and maintenance of rail system projects. As IMM, we are aware that these projects are an important step for the development of the country.

“Expanding rail systems is extremely important for a more sustainable world. For this reason, we are ready to provide all kinds of support to all cities that want to invest in the field of rail systems,” General Manager Özgür Soy said, “Due to the rapid growth of the city, priority is given to rail system projects. LAMATA is planning 7 rail system projects for Lagos. Work continues on the 25-kilometer Red Line, which is under construction at the first stage, and the 27-kilometer Blue Line, which is under tender. Work is planned to start in the near future for the other 5 projects," he said.
