In Turkey, the number of customers of online shopping sites exceeded 2022 million as of February 40, while the annual amount of e-commerce per capita was US$ 521. According to the report, 64 percent of internet users in Turkey regularly buy goods or services from virtual stores. The number of online shoppers has increased by 1 million people in the last year and reached 3,6 million 40 thousand people.

Turkey is the leader in Europe in terms of the online shopping rate of internet users, which is 64 percent, and ranks sixth in the world after Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, Mexico and China.

The rate of internet users who shop online is 60 percent in the UK and 57 percent in the USA.

E-COMMERCE 521 DOLLARS PER PERSON

According to the report in question, although Turkey is the leader in Europe in terms of participation in the e-commerce ecosystem, it still lags far behind in online shopping per capita.

The annual amount of goods and services purchased by 40 million 840 thousand people from digital stores is 21 billion 260 million USD. Accordingly, the annual amount of e-commerce per person is 521 USD.

Turkey, which is the leader in Europe in terms of participation in the e-commerce ecosystem, is the last in the basket average.

The world average of annual e-commerce per capita is close to twice that of Turkey, with 17 USD.

This figure is 3 thousand 3 USD in Hong Kong, 183 thousand 3 USD in the USA, and 105 thousand 2 USD in South Korea, which is one of the top 995 countries in the world.

$11,3 BILLION IN ELECTRONICS

Guclu Kayral, co-founder of Turkey's first cash-back shopping site Advantageix.com, stated that Turkish consumers spend the most in online shopping with 2022 billion 11 million USD, according to the Digital Turkey February 340 report.

According to Kayral's information, electronics, $5,27 billion, fashion, 1,32 billion USD, furniture, 1,11 billion USD, personal care and cosmetics, 969,1 million USD, toys, hobby, Physical media followed with $519,4 million, food with $462,3 million, and beverage with $85,24 million.

Underlining that holiday and travel expenditures are evaluated in separate categories in the Digital Turkey 2022 report, Kayral said, "US$ 2021 billion was spent in online markets in 4,6 for holiday travel."
