The historical Silk Road will revive on September 8: A railway solution that will relieve exporters in exports to Europe has been implemented. Within the scope of the project, the first train will depart from Manisa to Munich on 8 September. The train will first go to Munich and Cologne twice a week. Freight will arrive from Manisa to Cologne in 2 days. TOBB's goal is to start freight transport activities by rail to Central Asia and the Far East by connecting the project from Anatolia to Europe and Scandinavia and then to Pakistan train.
TOBB made a statement about the Great Anadolu Logistics Project. In the statement; Stating that the goods produced in Anatolia cannot enter the Customs Union because transportation costs reduce their competitiveness, TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said that they will solve this problem with the BALO Project. Stating that the first freight train will depart to Munich on September 8, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Now, our industrialists will send their products to Europe by rail transport with more favorable freight rates. Trains going to Bandırma from different provinces of Anatolia on a scheduled basis will reach Tekirdağ by crossing the Sea of Marmara. Starting from Tekirdağ, they will deliver their cargo to Munich and Cologne in cooperation with the Austrian State Railways. " he spoke. Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that, over time, freight transportation will begin to other European countries. Stating that they aim to increase the competitiveness of the industrialists with the project, Hisarcıklıoğlu continued as follows:
“Until today, Anatolian industrialists could not transport their products to Europe by rail due to transportation problems and lack of system. Especially transportation costs hinder the competitiveness of our industrialists in Anatolia. Although there is a Customs Union agreement with the European Union, only our provinces in the western region can use this advantage. While Istanbul makes 51% of its exports, Izmir 61% and Bursa 78% to Europe; Konya, in the middle of Anatolia, can make 33% and Gaziantep only 24% to Europe. With the project, we will establish load collection centers in some provinces of Anatolia. Despite the kilometer difference between our industrialists in the West and Anatolia, the freight difference for a truck volume going to Germany will fall to 125-200 Euros on average. Thus, foreign investors will be more interested in Anatolia, which has started to solve its logistics problems, and the region will be able to sell high value-added export products with new investments. Our goal; To start freight transport activities by rail to Central Asia and the Far East by organizing scheduled block train transports, connecting from Anatolia to Europe and Scandinavia and then to Pakistan train. We want to revive İpekyolu. We also carry raw materials from Turkey and from there to other countries. "
Emphasizing that BALO AŞ has a strong partnership structure, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the partners of the company are TOBB and its member 51 chambers, 24 exchanges and 15 organized industrial zones, UTIKAD and UMAT. Cargo trains; It will consist of 30 Hc containers that take 45 percent more cargo. At the beginning of 2014, there will be 5 weekly mutual trains. 350 containers will increase to 875. It will go to destination 4 in Europe. In the meantime, 2 train ferries will join the system.
