CHP Istanbul Deputy Kadir Gökmen Öğüt criticized the closure of Haydarpaşa Station to passenger transportation due to the High Speed Train Project and suggested that they are not against high-speed trains, that one of the lines should be kept open and that the renewal should be done in order.

CHP Istanbul Deputy Kadir Gökmen Öğüt, CHP Kocaeli Deputy Mehmet Hilal Kaplan and Kocaeli deputy Haydar Akar, held a press conference in the Assembly.

Öğüt reminded that 20 thousand citizens benefit from this line and that the distance between Köseköy and Haydarpaşa Train Station was closed for maintenance and high-speed train reasons, and that the highway was shown as an alternative to the railway, which is the most economical and safe way, for students, workers, civil servants and poor citizens who use this line.

Pointing out that railway transportation is the most reliable transportation in the event of an earthquake, Öğüt suggested that this artery of Istanbul, which is at risk of earthquake, was cut, and that both passenger and logistics transportation was left only to the highway.

'We are not against this improvement and the high speed train.

“On the pretext of changing the rail and building a high-speed train, the distance between Köseköy and Haydarpaşa will be temporarily closed for 3 years, then Marmaray will be put into the system and closed completely because there is no need. Thus, a date will be sacrificed to rent. However, our recommendation is; one line remains open and the renewal is done sequentially. Objecting to this, the government leaves open a single line for industrial transportation between Köseköy and Derince. In other words, it implements our recommendation only for the industry.”

High speed train not obeying speed limit

CHP deputy Mehmet Hilal Kaplan Kocaeli in the developed countries in the world when considering the average speed of high-speed trains, Köseköy-Pendik speed of 160 kilometers per hour, argued that the speed train does not comply with the limit.

Kaplan said, “In the future, it is very natural that a metropolis that includes Istanbul, Adapazarı and Kocaeli will have high-speed trains and high technology. A good planning for the future, but the victimization of people is forgotten ”. CHP Kocaeli Deputy Haydar Akar claimed that the line in question was used by people with low income and that thousands of people were victimized in this way.
