According to the United States (US) Federal Energy Regulatory Commission data, the additions made to the country's solar energy production capacity in the current year have increased the installed renewable energy production capacity above the installed production capacity of energy obtained from coal.
In its "Energy Infrastructure Update", the Commission reported that the new production capacity added to solar energy in the USA in the first month of the current year corresponded to 87,3% of the total capacity (2.527 megawatts). This is the second highest monthly total reported to have been added to solar capacity, following the 4.979 megawatts added to total U.S. solar capacity in December of last year.
