DEU Students Were Hosted at Manisa Central Wastewater Treatment Facility

MANİSA (İGFA) – A technical visit was made to the Manisa Central Wastewater Treatment Plant, operated by the Wastewater Treatment Department of Manisa Water and Sewage Administration (MASKİ) General Directorate, by the 4th year students of Dokuz Eylül University Environmental Engineering Department. The students were presented by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Azize Ayol, MASKİ Wastewater Treatment Department Branch Manager Onur Artan, and research assistants and technical personnel from Dokuz Eylül University Environmental Engineering Department were accompanied.

FUTURE ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERS EXAMINED ALL PROCESSES WITH INTEREST
Students, accompanied by MASKİ Wastewater Treatment Department Branch Manager and technical staff, visited all units of the facility one by one and examined the works on site. To the environmental engineers of the future; Information was given on topics such as the units through which wastewater passes, analyzes made in the laboratory, automation system (SCADA), continuous wastewater monitoring system (SAİS), solar power plant, wastes from the process, disposal methods, measures taken regarding Occupational Health and Safety and occupational diseases encountered. On the other hand, experiences in the operation and project design of wastewater treatment facilities and the studies carried out within the scope of environmental legislation in all facilities operated within the MASKI Wastewater Treatment Department were conveyed. Students who followed the processes with interest had the opportunity to ask questions they were curious about. At the end of the visit, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Azize Ayol, research assistants and students thanked MASKİ General Directorate.
