New Generation Art Space is in Istanbul with Offline Times

New Generation Art Space's exhibition titled "Offline Times" met with the art audience in Istanbul. The exhibition opened at Evrim Art Gallery on Saturday, March 23, 2024, and can be viewed at Evrim Art Gallery until April 6, 2024.

Artists in the “Offline Times” exhibition; Ağır Uğur Uludağ, Beşir Bayar, Büşra Aktekinoğlu Babat, Gülistan Kaya, Günsu Saraçoğlu, Kübra Akbulut Tarım, Mahmut Özdemir, Mehmet Babat, Tuğba Küçükbahar, Zeynep Köklüce

The artists conveyed their messages to the art audience in their joint manifesto about the exhibition.

“Being “Offline” is the great despair of the painful people of the Modern Age. The name of unhappiness is a non-stop loading icon on a screen trapped in old posts, disconnected from its artificial life. Nothing is loading; neither the lives of others nor the approved appreciation of our false happiness. Sometimes being “Offline” becomes a choice rather than an obligation. Likes, weak and unpleasant notifications that need the approval and attention of others, and more importantly, communication are blocked. The contradiction of loneliness within modern man, where everyone is easily accessible, has been updated.

How can an artist be Online in the modern age, which has nothing aesthetic about it? In the universe where life has become digital, canvas and paints maintain their historical primitiveness. No canvas surface can be as bright as a state-of-the-art screen. But there is no doubt that it will continue to exist after the digital world, as it did before. On the other hand, being online means becoming a potential audience. The mind, which is constantly exposed to images, does not have the patience or time to interpret and think about what it sees. The screen promises better in a fast flow. This results in a never-ending cycle. New Generation Artists create their own realities in front of their canvases in "Offline Times". Sometimes with colors, sometimes with unusual shapes, they convey their own reflections of the age they live in. They aim for man to be not only a watcher but also a thinker and interpreter.”

In this context, New Generation Art Space aims to create a notification in the mind of the viewer in the group exhibition "Offline Times" held under the roof of Evrim Art Gallery. Moreover, it guarantees that no work will encounter connection problems or remain offline.

The exhibition can be visited at Evrim Art Gallery until April 6, 2024.
