Turkish Carpet Takes Flight!

Turkey's first carpet documentary, 'ANATOLIAN CARPET: The Language of My Soul, The Color of My Word', which was produced after approximately 1 year of work, in cooperation with Istanbul Carpet Exporters Association (IHİB) and Habitat TV, with the support of the Turkish Exporters Assembly and the Ministry of Commerce, was released in June. It will be included in THY's in-flight entertainment system in XNUMX.

Noting that a 2-month exploratory trip was carried out during the preparation phase of the documentary, in which producer and documentary director Coşkun Aral was behind the scenes, İHİB Chairman of the Board of Directors Ahmet Hayri Diler said, “Nearly 100 villages from the east to the west of Turkey were visited.

A total of 32 thousand kilometers were covered. Thanks to this diversity, many different motifs and local features were brought to the fore.

The documentary featured individual weavers, public education centers and workshops. Our documentary was broadcast in 3 episodes on TRT Belgesel channel last year. Now, it will begin to be broadcast on the in-flight entertainment system of Turkish Airlines, one of the most important brands in Turkey, where millions of people travel. Our documentary will be included in the system starting from June.” he said.

Pointing out that the documentary contributes economically and socially to Turkish carpet weaving, Ahmet Hayri Diler said, “Turkey, which is a carpet country, should focus more on this issue. According to the field research, 20 thousand weavers are still interested in this profession. However, new touches are needed for this profession to move forward. We aim to raise this awareness with our work. We recorded our timeless carpet motifs that the world admires with this documentary. Now we continue our work to move this profession forward. We must say that our cooperation with Turkish Airlines (THY) is promising for our industry. Our efforts will continue to make our documentary reach more people.” said.
