Turkey's Largest Solar Power Plant Started Producing Electricity

default

The construction of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality's Turkey's largest solar power plant (SPP) project, connected to the system at medium voltage level by the public, has been completed and started to produce electricity. The Solar Power Plant, which has a production power of 45 KW, will produce 90 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually from solar energy.

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which aims to reduce high costs in energy unit prices as well as minimizing soil, air and water pollution in the city, continues its renewable energy investments. The Metropolitan Municipality has undertaken Turkey's largest solar power project, which is connected to the system at medium voltage level by the public in the Büyükalan District of Ladik district.

IT WILL PRODUCE 90 MILLION KILOVATHOURS OF ELECTRICITY PER YEAR

Within the scope of the Solar Power Plant project established on an area of 850 decares, 121 energy transmission line poles were erected on the site, while a 6 thousand 600 meter long medium voltage cable was installed. A total of 125 thousand 901 solar panels were installed in the area. The solar power plant, whose construction was completed, started producing electricity as of last week. The electricity produced is produced by Türkiye Electricity Distribution Inc. It is transferred to the main system of . The Solar Power Plant, with a production power of 45 KW, will produce 90 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually from solar energy.

IT WILL SAVE 250 MILLION ANNUALLY IN THE INSTITUTION'S BUDGET

The SPP Project, which will greatly reduce the electricity costs consumed at moderate levels by many facilities of the Metropolitan Municipality, including SASKİ sewerage pumping centers, drinking water treatment facilities, Light Rail System trams, concrete plants, crusher plants, will also meet the energy consumption needs of electric buses. The project will save approximately 250 million TL annually for the institution's budget. It was stated that the project will amortize itself in approximately 4 years with the contributions it will make to the institution's budget. Within the scope of the project, after the site was delivered to the contractor company on February 22, 2023, work started on the field in June 2023, following the project design and feasibility studies.

'125 THOUSAND 901 SOLAR PANELS WERE PLACED

Explaining the importance of the Solar Power Plant project that started operating in Ladik, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Technical Affairs Department Head Nurettin Özbey said, “We started energy production in our 45 MW facility. It will produce approximately 90 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually. This means producing the energy of 36 thousand households. The area was covered with 125 thousand 901 solar panels of domestic and national production. The panels have a moving system that changes direction according to the angle of the sun. This will allow us to produce 15-20 percent more than other fixed systems. With the savings made with our Solar Power Plant project, approximately 250 million lira will be saved annually for our institutional budget. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we are an environmentally friendly municipality. We have special works that are seriously sensitive to the environment. We carry out our work within a vision that focuses on renewable energy sources. "One of the most important and biggest examples of this is the solar energy projects we have implemented," he said and continued:

'IT WILL PROVIDE ADDED VALUE TO SAMSUN'

“With our solar power project, we prevent 43 thousand tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. If this facility did not exist, we would have to use 13 thousand tons of coal annually to meet this energy. As Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, we have made an investment that will significantly add value to our city. We do not directly provide the energy we produce here. The electricity we produce here is Türkiye Electricity Distribution Inc.' We transfer it to the system of . It is included in this system as direct energy. “We offset the energy we consume in our other facilities with the eclectic energy we produce.”
