Reaction from the Industrial Catering Industry… Food Terrorism Must Be Prevented!

Bursa Food Manufacturers Association (BUYSAD) President Coşkun Dönmez stated that precautions should be taken against the systematic price increases applied to basic food items such as red-white meat, milk-dairy products, legumes and fruits and vegetables, and that this situation occurs every year before the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Adha. He also noted that it was repeated.

Describing price increases without basing them on cost increases as opportunism, Mayor Coşkun Dönmez emphasized that the state should take tougher measures against speculators.

Dönmez emphasized that price increases in basic foodstuffs negatively affect the economy of citizens, as well as the damage they cause to the industrial catering sector.

Stating that there is a period in which the economy has become extremely important, and therefore both citizens and industrial catering industry customers are looking for cheap prices and choosing unsafe foods, Coşkun Dönmez said, “As BUYSAD, we are carrying out a study to find a solution to this issue. In the coming days, we will go to the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and submit a joint work proposal. Because public health comes before everything,” he said.

IT IS NECESSARY TO STRENGTHEN AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION

Coşkun Dönmez also emphasized that agricultural production is unstable and the animal population should be increased, and asked for the support to producers to be further increased in order to develop animal husbandry and increase agricultural production in Turkey. Mayor Dönmez, who wants the agriculture and livestock sector to be industrialized, production to be made more comprehensively and industrialists to be encouraged in these business lines, said, “This problem cannot be solved with imports. "It is necessary to focus on long-term solutions to ensure supply-demand balance and control prices," he said.

FOOD TERROR MUST BE PREVENTED

Pointing out that news of food poisoning occurring in places where mass consumption is frequently carried out in the media, Coşkun Dönmez emphasized once again that food producing businesses should be inspected more closely. Mayor Dönmez, who wants businesses that do not have a license to produce industrial food to be given no opportunity, said, “I draw attention once again to the importance of taking stricter measures against those who threaten public health. Meals produced under inappropriate conditions and adulterated products threaten public health and cause long-term food-related health problems. It is our duty to prevent businesses and street vendors that do not comply with hygiene and sanitation rules. Caring for human health is everyone's main duty. "Relevant state institutions must carry out more inspections," he said.
