New Measure Against Animal Diseases

With the Veterinary Road Control and Inspection Stations that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has put into operation in Erzurum and Elazığ provinces, where animal movements from east to west are intense, and plans to establish in 6 more provinces, animal movements will be monitored 7/24 and infectious animal diseases will be prevented.

In his written statement, Yumaklı stated that uncontrolled animal movements have a significant impact on the spread of contagious animal diseases, and this has negative repercussions on animal production and therefore on the country's economy.

Pointing out that inspection and control of animal movements is of great importance in preventing infectious animal diseases, Yumaklı made the following evaluations:

“Controlling animal shipments, especially from the east to the west of our country, will prevent infectious animal diseases that negatively affect our animal production. The first one will be operational in Erzurum and the second one in Elazığ at the beginning of next month. The total number of these stations will be 8. All of them will be operational within this year. As we stated in our Livestock Road Map, which we announced in order to increase the quality and efficiency in our animal production, we control animal movements at our inspection stations and inform our producers and companies that transport animals. We believe that we will achieve our goal of maximizing the efficiency and quality of our animal production as soon as possible by combating infectious animal diseases on-site with the vaccination studies we carry out.”

Underlining that the veterinarians working at the Ministry's Veterinary Road Control and Inspection Stations, all areas of which are illuminated for 7/24 control and inspection and monitored 24 hours a day with cameras with night vision features, inspect all vehicles carrying live animals and animal products, Yumaklı said, "During the inspections, veterinary health With the reports, the ear tags and health status of the animals are checked. Animals with problems are checked separately. If non-compliance is detected during control and inspection, administrative sanctions are imposed on animal owners. "If a sick animal is detected in the vehicle, its transportation is not allowed and quarantine measures are applied."

Minister Yumaklı emphasized that 6 thousand 2 vehicles have been checked so far at the Erzurum Inspection Station, which started operating about 178 months ago, and non-conformities were detected in 78 vehicles, and said, “Our controls will continue determinedly to secure our animal production. First of all, I would like to thank our citizens who shipped animals by paying attention to all these conditions.” he said.

Pointing out that Veterinary Road Control and Inspection Stations will also fulfill an important function during the upcoming Eid al-Adha, when animal mobility increases, Yumaklı called on breeders and transportation businesses to comply with the rules and assist the control personnel.
