Disadvantaged Groups and Their Families in Konya Met for Iftar

An iftar program was organized for disadvantaged citizens and their families in Konya by Konya Governorship, Konya Metropolitan Municipality and Selçuklu, Meram and Karatay municipalities.

The mini concert given by Konya Metropolitan Municipality Special Youth Mehter Band before the iftar program at Karatay Youth Center received applause from the participants.

Speaking at the program, Turkish Disabled Association Konya Branch President Ahmet Mıhçı thanked Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay and district mayors for their never-ending support to the disabled community.

Reminding that they have implemented dozens of different studies together with the Disabled Support Center and other units, Mayor Altay continued: “With our Barrier-Free Transportation Vehicle, we enable our disadvantaged citizens to easily do their jobs in institutions and organizations. With our Disabled Accessible Public Buildings project; We ensure that our disadvantaged citizens have comfortable and easy access to heavily used public areas. Again, for our disadvantaged brothers and sisters, we offer free urban transportation opportunities defined in Konya Card and a 50 percent discount on water bills. We also make home visits to our disadvantaged siblings and offer services such as personal care, house cleaning, environmental maintenance and repair to those who need support. We provide medical equipment support to our brothers and sisters in need, and we carry out battery replacement, repair, maintenance and repair of battery-powered vehicles. With our Barrier-Free City Konya Accessibility Master Plan project, we are taking a huge step to make your lives easier in areas frequently used by our citizens.
