China Takes Giant Steps in Renewable Energy Facility Construction

China is taking giant steps in the construction of renewable energy facilities. The People's Republic of China became the country that invested the most in solar power plants in the world in 2023 by a large margin. Over the past year, China has used significantly more solar energy than in previous years. According to the data of the Ministry of Energy, the new capacity added in 2023 was 216 gigawatts; However, the new capacity installed in 2022 was 87 gigawatts. For example, if we make a comparison with Germany, it should be noted that only 2023 gigawatts of capacity will be added to the existing solar energy network in this country in 14,1.

Ministry of Energy data showed that in 2023, unlike previous years, it is preferred to turn to large solar power plants in China rather than placing solar panels on the roofs of buildings. Meanwhile, solar panels placed on the roofs of buildings contributed to increasing the share of solar energy in total energy. For example, it continues to build giant solar facility projects and feed the energy grid with them, especially in isolated parts of the country, such as the northwestern province of Xinjiang or the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

On the other hand, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for the establishment of facilities that benefit from renewable energy sources such as wind and solar in China. As a matter of fact, China is the global leader in the construction of such energy facilities. China, the world's second largest economy, will reach the zero carbon stage in 2060, as it aims, only in this way.
