Within the scope of the project carried out by Van Governorship and Metropolitan Municipality, 350 thousand fruit saplings were distributed to farmers. While 2023 thousand saplings will be distributed to farmers in 350, 2 thousand saplings will be planted in the soil within 700 years.
Van Governorship and Metropolitan Municipality continue their projects for the development of agriculture and animal husbandry in the city. In order to provide economic income to farmers, a ceremony was held at the Metropolitan Municipality Machinery Supply Garage with the participation of the Governor of Van and the Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality, Ozan Balcı. At the ceremony, 350 thousand saplings consisting of walnut, apple, pear, apricot, plum, sour cherry, quince, almond, mulberry, nectarine, peach, persimmon and pomegranate will be distributed to 3 thousand 100 farmers in cooperation with the Van Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Ozan Balcı said that they distributed 2 thousand fruit saplings in 700 years in order to increase the fruit growing potential of Van province. Stating that they have implemented many new projects to help farmers earn additional income, Governor Ozan Balcı said, “Today, we came together with our farmers for a good job. Loving the country and the nation is not possible just by loving them. Preserving the beauties is possible through zoning and revival. We will distribute 350 thousand saplings to our farmers to support our farmers and beautify our country. Our farmers will contribute to the economy of our city by planting these saplings in their vineyards and gardens. Our city will also become green. We are building agricultural ponds and canals in many of our districts to irrigate agricultural areas. With our sheep project, we have distributed 171 thousand 661 sheep to 1727 farmers so far. We built 7 thousand water tanks and installed solar-powered boreholes in rural areas so that animals could drink water. We are opening the plateau roads. "All of these are to support our farmers and improve agriculture in our city," he said.
