Secret Works of Turkish-Islamic Civilization on the Agenda of the Parliament

Deputy Doğan Bekin, the tomb of Sahabi, Karbala martyr Muhammed el Faris bin Caferi Tayyar, located in Mardin, on which a wall was built, the tomb of Alpaslan's 5th Generation grandson Nasıruddin Ahmed Artuk Aslan, whose door was hidden by building a wall in 1925, and Mardin History. He submitted a parliamentary question for madrasahs, requesting that the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, answer it.

In his parliamentary question, Deputy Doğan Bekin requested that the works bearing the traces of Turkish-Islamic civilizations be unearthed and registered.
Deputy Doğan Bekin included the following statements in his parliamentary question: In our Mardin province, the wall next to the Ottoman State Palace collapsed due to rain on February 22, 2019. After this collapse, the fountain iwan of the Yakubiye Madrasa, built by Yakup Bey, the first governor of the Ottoman Empire, and a part of the tomb of Sahabi Muhammed El Farisi Bin Cafer Tayyar, which was located within the Hüsamiye social complex next to it and which previously had a domed mosque in that area, were revealed. Pointing out that no restoration work has been carried out even though 6 years have passed since the structures that remained hidden from the collapse of the wall emerged, Bekin said, "On the contrary, they have wanted to build a wall many times. Due to the opposition of the local people, the wall was not built. Researcher and writer Nihat Ayanoğlu scanned thousands of books at Al-Azhar University for 2 years and determined the life of Sahabi Muhammed El Faris Bin Cafer Tayyar and the exact location of his grave. In addition to his many characteristics, it has been established with conclusive evidence that he was a martyr of Karbala. The tomb of the Companions was not protected and the necessary work was not initiated. He pointed out that although the mosque known as El Gazi Masjid, where the tomb was located, was recently demolished, experts determined that the parcel within it was under the property of the National Real Estate.

In the light of this information, Bekin asked Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, "Why have the necessary works for the restoration of historical monuments not been carried out in the 6 years since the collapse of the wall?" Is there any work to be done to restore the fountain iwan of the Yakubiye Madrasa and the adjacent Husamiye Complex, and the tomb of the companion Muhammad al-Faris Bin Cafer Tayyar, which was previously a domed mosque? Are you planning to initiate a project to preserve the historical artifacts found in our Mardin province and bring them back to the present day, by protecting our historical assets? "Will the tomb of Companion Muhammed el Faris bin Cafer Tayyar be registered in order to preserve the historical assets of both our Mardin province and our country?" He wanted the questions to be answered.

İbrahim Yüksel, President of MADDER, Association for the Protection of Mardin Madrasahs, stated that Deputy Doğan Bekin is extremely important for the history of Mardin in his parliamentary question and thanked him for his initiatives.
