Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality has put into service another project that will serve 1 million Sakarya residents in the heart of the city. Unkapanı Square, which has attracted attention with its appearance and use for many years, was rebuilt with the modern architectural approach of the Metropolitan Municipality.
A MODERN SQUARE
The square project, which includes landscaping, landscaping touches, decorative areas, recreation areas, underground fountains and sinks, was opened to the service of citizens. Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem Yüce and protocol members cut the opening ribbon of the square.

President Yüce stated that fully equipped modern squares are of vital importance for the aftermath of possible earthquakes and said, “While we carry out pre-earthquake work to be prepared for a possible earthquake, we are also working to prevent the chaos that will occur after the earthquake. It is very important for people to arrange meeting points with each other, to collect aid in a certain area and to provide accommodation for citizens. The most important areas in this regard are the squares of our city. "We carry out square works at certain points of our city," he said.

Yüce said, “Geyve Square, Sapanca Square, Taraklı Square, Pamukova Square and Unkapanı Square, which we are promoting today. In case of a possible earthquake, we offer a space to our citizens and a square worthy of the center of our city. We created a square worthy of our city on an area of 500 m2. Thanks to this project, we provided both a gathering area and a stop for our minibus tradesmen. We also built a beautiful underground fountain for our citizens and mosque community. It became the address of green and spaciousness. "In 5 years, we have done our best in every field that our fellow citizens need in their lives, with the love of the first day," he said.
