Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cengiz Ergün continued his district visit programs with Saruhanlı. Chamber of Agriculture President Aydoğan Okur, who declared Mayor Ergün as a farmer-friendly president due to the support he provided to producers, said, “This is the first time a mayor comes to our chamber, which was established in 1973. President of the Chamber of Agriculture Speaks Against the Perception of "Expensive Water"
Saruhanlı Chamber of Agriculture President Aydoğan Okur, who also shared his views on the unfounded public claims that water is expensive in Manisa, said, “There is no dam in Manisa. There are dams in other provinces. Water consumed in Manisa has a cost. "This needs to be emphasized," he said.

Speaking after Okur, Mayor Ergün also stated that those who criticize Turkey's most expensive water are the Republican People's Party Municipalities and said, "Maski General Directorate provides services in 17 districts and 1088 neighborhoods. There are 2200 drilling operations in all of Manisa. Now the water comes out of the deep. However, there is an average electricity cost of 50 million per month. In this sense, the energy cost determines the water price first. Secondly, investment cost. When we took office, there were 13 wastewater treatment plants that were not operated. In order to protect our future and our plains, we have put 13 facilities into service in Manisa, along with our 23 wastewater treatment facilities. These also have high operating costs. There are 660 thousand subscribers. We have low number of subscribers in our villages and towns. On the other hand, we renewed the infrastructure and superstructure of 265 neighborhoods. We have renewed the entire infrastructure of 18 neighborhoods in Saruhanlı. In this sense, we have to make these investments for our citizens to use healthy water. Of course, we want our citizens to consume lower priced water. On the other hand, those who want to create the perception that water is expensive are the municipalities with the Republican People's Party in the top 3 in the list of the most expensive water. "Let them look at their own municipalities first," he said.
