KSO President Zeytinoğlu Evaluated the Current Account Balance Data

Kocaeli Chamber of Industry (KSO) President Ayhan Zeytinoğlu made evaluations regarding the 2023 balance of payments data announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey. Zeytinoğlu said, “In December, the current account balance had a deficit of 2 billion 91 million dollars. With this data, 2023 was completed with a current account deficit of 45 billion 150 million dollars. We see the effect of the increasing contribution of services revenues and the decline in imports, as well as the decrease in the foreign trade deficit, in the improvement in the current account deficit compared to the previous year. While service revenues contributed 2022 billion dollars in 49.6, their contribution increased to 2023 billion dollars in 53. "The foreign trade deficit decreased by 3.1 billion dollars to 86.5 billion dollars," he said.

With the decline in imports, the foreign trade deficit decreased by 56.8 percent in January. "We think this will be reflected in the current account balance and the decline in the annual current account deficit will continue in January," he said.
