Republican People's Party (CHP) Akdeniz District Chairman Semih Palamut said the following in his message on the anniversary of the February 6 earthquake: "Thousands of our citizens lost their lives and tens of thousands of them were injured in the Kahramanmaraş earthquake, which has been a year since. While the Kahramanmaraş earthquake took its place in history as one of the most painful disasters our nation has experienced, it once again painfully reminded us that we should not forget the reality of the earthquake. We know that our country is located on one of the most active earthquake zones in the world. For this reason, it is inevitable that earthquakes experienced in the past will occur today or in the future. The important thing here is to learn to live with earthquakes, to carry out inspections, to take precautions regarding earthquakes by using the knowledge, experience and technology of the century we live in, and to always be prepared for earthquakes in unity with our institutions and citizens. It should be our primary duty to make our buildings earthquake-resistant, to learn what to do in emergencies, and to raise awareness of our citizens against earthquakes. "On this occasion, on the anniversary of the February 1 Kahramanmaraş earthquake, I hope that such pain will never happen again in our country, and I once again express my condolences to our citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake, and my condolences and patience to their families," he said.
