In the program attended by Şile Garrison Commander Mehmet Sutaşır, Mayor İlhan Ocaklı Public Institution Chiefs and the newly established Şile Search and Rescue Association President Zafer Ketenci and the guests, the video live connection made from Antakya Küçük Dalyan District created a sad atmosphere in the hall. Şile Mayor İlhan Ocaklı could not speak at the podium for a long time. In his speech, President Ocaklı, as Şile, the State and the Nation stood arm in arm and we directed our aid and logistic support to the region on the same day.
The District Governorship, Şile Municipality, our Military, Gendarmerie, Police, all institution heads, philanthropists worked with great devotion and solidarity for months and sent dozens of aid materials to the region. Even our little children carried clothes and water with their little hands, brought their pocket money from their piggy banks, and sent the gifts they carried with their hands to their siblings there. From the first moment of the earthquakes, we built bridges of love from Şile to the disaster areas with your support. We made many new friends and new neighbors. We will never forget our neighbors there. I would like to thank once again our fellow citizens who are with us in the aid efforts.
WE ESTABLISHED A SMALL MUNICIPALITY OF ŞİLE IN THE REGION
President Ocaklı; “As Şile Municipality, we established a small Şile Municipality with half of our staff in Antakya Küçük Dalyan region and distributed three hot meals a day to 10.000 people in our truck that we sent from Şile to the region. We delivered the necessary aid materials with our vehicles in the region to people who had difficulty in transportation in distant places. We were asked for bread and sent it immediately, but when it arrived in two days, the bread hardened, so we had the village ovens burned in all our villages, we bought the flour from our mothers and sisters, we took the oil and had our sourdough village bread prepared and we sent 100 people to the region. We sent thousands of loaves of bread. We saw this bread as an advantage because it can be stored for a long time, heated and renewed. As Şile Municipality, we were there in the region for approximately 10 months and we were the last Municipality to leave the region. I have been to the region many times and felt that pain and sadness every time. May God not let such disasters happen again.
However, scientists' warnings about the Istanbul earthquake were obvious. Then, as Şile Municipality, we formed a search and rescue team within ourselves. With the completion of the necessary logistical support and physical training, they were ready for duty. "I wish God's mercy to those who lost their lives in the disaster of the century that occurred in our 11 provinces, and patience to our people left behind," he said.

After the speeches, the video call from the region was broadcast live on the screen, and Mayor İlhan Ocaklı said to the children affected by the earthquake, "How are you, Uncle Mayor, we missed you very much, say hello to Şile", creating emotional moments. A citizen who was affected by the earthquake said, “We pray for Mayor İlhan Ocaklı, he was always with us. "We pray for the people of Şile, we pray for the employees, you have been with us for months, may God bless you all," he said.
Following the explanations and live broadcast link, certificates of appreciation were given to the Search and Rescue teams that were formed and whose training was completed.
