A solution was found by the Metropolitan Municipality to the shelter problem experienced by amateur fishermen in Samsun for their small fishing boats. In this context, work continues uninterruptedly on the Fisherman's Shelter project, which is under construction at Mert Beach and is eagerly awaited by amateur fishermen. 9 percent of the project, in which 300 shelters were built on a total area of 126 thousand 80 square meters, has been completed.

Providing information about the project, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Technical Affairs Department Head Nurettin Özbey said, “Amateur fishing is developing rapidly in Samsun and the number of boats is increasing. Based on this fact, we started our Fisherman's Shelter project at Mert Beach. The work is progressing rapidly. 80 percent of the project has been completed. Hopefully, we will open this place as soon as possible. "We will provide our fishermen with modern shelters," he said.
