53 Environmentally Friendly Buses to Konya's Transportation Fleet

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, together with AK Party Konya Provincial Chairman Hasan Angı, introduced 53 new buses that will strengthen the public transportation fleet of the Metropolitan Municipality.

Reminding that one of the most important agenda items in metropolitan cities is public transportation, Mayor Altay stated that they reached 111 million boardings in public transportation last year, approximately 41 million of which were by rail system and 70 million by buses.

Stating that they are working intensively to provide Konya residents with more comfortable transportation, increasing the number of trips and shortening travel times in transportation, he said, “In this sense, we brought 127 buses to our city last year. As of now, we are further strengthening our bus fleet by putting 53 more buses into service. 30 of them are CNG Hybrid Solo, 20 of them are CNG Hybrid Bellows, and 3 of them are semi-travel type. Our buses are environmentally friendly buses that run on natural gas. Its current cost is 449 million lira. Thus, with the buses we purchased last year, the number of new buses increased to 180, and the total current cost reached 1 billion 311 million liras. Our buses are domestic buses produced in Turkey. As a result of our efforts to bring the best quality to our city, these 53 buses were put into service. I hope it will be beneficial to our city. On the other hand, as Konya Metropolitan Municipality, we offer Turkey's cheapest transportation service in such a large geography. Our student ticket is 4 lira, our civilian ticket is 8,5 lira, and our student subscription is 220 lira. "Therefore, we continue to be an example to Turkey in offering this comfort to our citizens at the cheapest price," he said.

ALL THE POSSIBILITIES OF TECHNOLOGY ARE USED IN PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Stating that they use all the possibilities of technology in public transportation services with the understanding of "Konya Model Municipality", Mayor Altay said, "Our Smart Public Transportation System ATUS, which is used by 10 thousands of our citizens every day, Konya City Information System, Smart Traffic Management System, Central Traffic Operation System, Smart Parking." As the municipality that has implemented the Application, Artificial Intelligence Supported Line Optimization Application, Smart Stop Screens and the Turkey Card and Konya Salary Platform for the first time in Turkey, we continue our work on this subject. In addition, within the scope of the International ITS Summit with our Barrier-Free Konya Mobile Application that we have implemented for our disabled citizens; "We personally received an award from our Minister of Transport and Infrastructure in the 'Municipalism, the Way of Reason in Transportation' category," he said.

Stating that their primary goal is to increase the number of passengers carried by the rail system while renewing the bus fleet, Mayor Altay said that they plan to give the good news of the new rail system to Konya as soon as possible.
