Kütahya Municipality continues to be an example for Turkey and the world with its "Smart Urbanism" practices compatible with the 2020-2023 National Smart Cities Strategy and Action Plan published by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
With the implementation of the Smart Cities Maturity Assessment Model prepared within the scope of the National Smart Cities Strategy and Action Plan, the capabilities of the cities in the field of Smart Urbanism were evaluated, the "Smart City" maturity levels were determined and the "National Smart City Index" was created in line with these results.
In this context, the maturity level of cities is measured through evaluations made in more than 20 areas, from transportation to the environment, from energy to zero waste, from information technologies to governance, and thus, cities work on the activities to be done and the measures to be taken according to these results.
As a result of the evaluations made between 2020 and 2023, Kütahya Municipality ranked first among 51 provincial municipalities in its category and fourth among 81 provinces after Konya, Istanbul and Bursa, with the "Smart Urbanism" projects it implemented. Kütahya, which is also included in the Smart City Successful Examples List published by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, continues to be an example for Turkey and the world.
