Turkey's Goal is to Become China's Food Warehouse

Acting with the motto "If China is not far to buy, it is not far to sell", Turkish exporters made the first move of 2024 to increase our exports to China.

The Business Committee of 25 people, chaired by Tayfun Kılıç, Deputy Director General of Exports of the Ministry of Commerce, continues an intensive program with its Chinese counterparts to increase exports from Turkey to China between January 29 and February 1, 2024.

Aegean Exporters' Associations Coordinator Vice President and Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Exporters' Association President Hayrettin Ucak and Aegean Exporters' Associations General Secretary İ. The business delegation, including Cumhur İşbırakmaz, made its first visit to the China Chamber of Commerce for Foodstuffs, Domestic Products and Animal By-Products Import and Export (CFNA).

Speaking during the visit hosted by CFNA President Cao Derong, Aegean Exporters' Association Coordinator Vice President Hayrettin Ucak said that the resumption of cherry exports from Turkey to the People's Republic of China will increase the export of citrus fruits, pomegranates, grapes, apples, figs, almonds and kiwis in addition to cherries. He shared the information that negotiations are continuing between the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey and the General Administration of Quality, Control, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China to start.

Sharing the information that Turkey wrote a letter to the Chinese authorities in October 2023 to start fresh fruit and vegetable exports from Turkey, Ucak said, “In order to complete the procedures, Chinese officials come to our country and inspect the gardens and enterprises, and as a result of these inspections, they give compliance and the protocol conditions are determined accordingly.” We are waiting for it to be signed. We want to export to you in a healthy way not only fresh fruits and vegetables, but also all agricultural products and seafood, poultry meat, eggs and dairy products that Turkey imports from China and is strong in producing and exporting. If the People's Republic of China starts working with us, it will have the opportunity to offer quality Turkish food products to its citizens at affordable prices. We will reach our goal of exporting 210 billion dollars of food products to China, which imports 1 billion dollars of food products annually. "The win-win philosophy will come to life for both parties," he said.

Stating that they, as the Aegean Exporters' Association, have a goal to establish a digital marketplace in China in 2024, Ucak stated that they will exchange views with their Chinese counterparts regarding this project in the business delegation, and that they will lay the groundwork for their marketing activities for the Chinese market in 2024 and the following years.

The Turkish Business Delegation made its second visit to the company called COFCO during its China contacts.

The third stop of the Turkish Business Delegation, which made contacts to better balance foreign trade between China and Turkey, was the China Foreign Trade Support Council.
