Turkey's First Astronaut Will Communicate with the National Call Sign

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that Turkish space traveler Colonel Alper Gezeravcı, who will serve on the International Space Station (ISS) within the scope of Turkey's first manned space mission, will communicate with the national call sign.

In his written statement, Minister Uraloğlu reminded that Turkey's 2021-year space planning and strategy was announced with the National Space Program announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 10, and said, “In this context, the countdown continues for Turkey's first manned space mission. "If it goes as planned, Alper Gezeravcı, who will gain the title of being the first Turk to go into space, will break another first with his own amateur radio certificate and call sign, and will start his space travel with his national call sign," he said.

Uraloğlu, within the scope of Turkey's First Manned Space Mission, to Turkey's space traveler Alper Gezeravcı, upon the request of TÜBİTAK UZAY, by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure; He stated that the national TA5TRU call sign was allocated. Uraloğlu will communicate with this call sign during his duty under the coordination of Colonel Alper Gezeravcı and TÜBİTAK UZAY. For this purpose, the call sign 'TC100ISS' was allocated for special amateur radio events, dedicated to the Centennial of the Republic of Turkey.”

EXPECTATIONS ARE INCREASING FOR ALPER GEZERAVCI'S 13 SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTS

It is planned that Alper Gezeravcı will carry out 14 different scientific experiments for 13 days at the International Space Station in Turkey's First Manned Space Mission. The experiments he will conduct during his time in space are expected to make significant contributions to the Turkish science world and space technologies.
