WESTERN RING ROAD WAS INCLUDED IN THE 2024 INVESTMENT PROGRAM
Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “I would like to share good news with you here. Our Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Planning and Budget Commission, Mehmet Muş, told me yesterday that the Western Ring Road was included in the investment plan. I thank him. Hopefully, the Western Ring Road will be tendered and its work will begin in 2024. "Work continues within the Eastern Ring Road," he said.
“THERE IS A NEED FOR FURNITURE OIZ”
Mayor Demir said, “We are starting a new study. Furniture Organized Industrial Zone. This is needed very much in Samsun. In the past, one of the most important locations in furniture production was in Samsun. "We have to build that Samsun again," he said.
OUR DEBT DECREASED 5 TIMES IN 9 YEARS
Mayor Demir, who also shared the figures about the municipality's budget, said, “When we took over, the municipality's budget was 1 billion 150 million. The debt we took over is 3 billion 360 liras. So we had debts 3 times our total assets. Currently, our debt in 2024 is about 40 percent of our budget. What was the budget before? It's 3 times the budget. With the new figures entering the municipality's coffers, this rate will drop to 30 percent. When we look at other provincial municipalities, when we compare the scale there with Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, the criticisms are not fair. Our debt decreased 5 times in 9 years. While achieving this goal, we established factories and concrete plants. We strengthened our vehicle park. We installed crushers. We preferred to buy a vehicle instead of renting it. We paid expropriation fees. We built the roads of 850 neighborhoods from scratch. We solved the drinking water problem of 473 neighborhoods. We built projects all over the city. "We built treatment facilities and carried out important infrastructure work," he said.
