Minimum Wage Increase May Cause Employers to Lay Off Workers

Financial advisor Halil Kırlı, who participated in the Gözcü TV broadcast, stated that the increase in the minimum wage and the related SSI premiums will cause employers to lay off workers or even close their workplaces.

Halil Kırdı, who participated in the Gözcü TV broadcast, explained that the minimum wage increase and the resulting rising SSI premiums will put employers in a difficult situation, and that employers will resort to ways such as laying off workers, employing illegal workers, or even closing their workplaces in the face of this situation.

Kırdı stated that the increase in rent and production costs due to high inflation put employers in a difficult situation, and that the situation became even more complicated with the addition of the increase in labor costs. Reminding that some taxpayer-owned factories have stopped production and closed their workplaces in 2023, Kırdı stated that new ones may be added.

Referring to the imbalance in the social security system, Kırdı stated that the premium paid by two employees covers the salary of one retiree, and this system is not sustainable.
